The Cyclops

Twelve houses is part of noise barriers along the secondary roads in Diependaalu, residential area in the woods near Hilversumu. Despite of the inhospitable location and initial distrust of clients, the main idea attracted people and futuristic almost fantastic design houses, were sold, clients bought their houses saw them only on drawing board, several years before they were finished.
Cyclops arising from purely functional grounds. It was needed to finance the construction of noise barriers, which should reduce noise levels and allow more residential housing along the busy road. Roads have been source of inspiration. Houses are like cars: sheathing of aluminum plate is fixed bonding, it is not screwed - cars also have not screws on the hood. Aluminum houses are fixed to the curved, inclined noise barriers, which is a green light color from transparent polycarbonate.
Character of land determines its fundamental deformation: where copying noise barriers is blinding. The answer to the lack of light at the back of the site is consoled living room in front on the first floor. Missing garden may be not the lack, when there is a large terrace - this is true even in the suburbs. Technical solutions - noise barriers and buildings are conected as a whole unit- and the surrounding countryside and forests are on purpose built into the contrast.
